I love to travel. It doesn’t matter whether it’s up the street or around the world, I simply have to see what’s out there. But no matter where I go, I always decide that the very best place to be is home with the people I love. This page, though, is devoted to when I’m out and about. Ljubljana and Bled, Slovenia – October, 2011
I visited Slovenia on business. I’ll admit that the country was nowhere on my “gotta see” list, but that was simply because I didn’t know what I was missing! Ljubljana is a wonderful city to walk. Cross its bridges, listen to music in the square, visit its castle, and stop at Julija (9 Stari Trg) for a warm welcome, fabulous food and local wines. Click here for Trip Advisor reviews.
Between meetings, my travel companion (because, really, at my age, I feel like a freak when I say “boyfriend”) and I took a bus to the town of Bled, which is located in the Julian Alps. Gorgeous. Totally gorgeous. Walk the lake, and if you’re there in autumn, have a hot chocolate to warm up.

Venice, Italy – October, 2011
I was lucky enough to spend a couple of days in Venice, but I met an American woman who is living the dream. Karen Henderson and her husband, Mike, picked up and moved to Venice. In a day of walking the city with Karen, I truly got a sense of what Venice is about. San Marco Square is great for a stop, but that’s just scratching the surface of this city. Rich with history, mystery, and intrigue, Venice surrounds you, seduces, and makes you want more. I will be back.
